Hickory and white oak by Appalachian, made in Quebec, with more than fifteen finishes to choose from.
Appalachian Signature floors are built to handle harsh winters and the variable humidity of Quebec. Hickory, prized for its hardness, and white oak, loved for its grain, both perform beautifully in our climate when indoor humidity stays in range.
With more than fifteen finishes, Signature is the most versatile of the Appalachian solid lines.
“Solid hardwood is an investment that lasts decades in a Quebec home, as long as you manage the winter humidity,” says Sefi Dollinger, Owner of Planchers Bellefeuille, serving Quebec homeowners since 1983.
Solid Signature flooring is nailed down over a well-prepared wood subfloor. Solid hardwood is not recommended over a concrete slab (choose engineered instead) or with radiant heat. Always leave an expansion gap around the perimeter.
Target indoor humidity: 35-55%. Below 30%, wood cracks and gaps during winter. Above 60%, there is a risk of cupping. We recommend a central or portable humidifier through the heating season.
