A Mercier collection built around your choice of species: hard maple, hickory, white oak, red oak or yellow birch.
Origins by Mercier gives you an exceptional choice of hardwood species. Each one has its own character, color and grain. Whether you prefer the warmth of oak or the hardness of maple, you will find the floor that fits your style.
In Quebec, our cold winters and humid summers demand a durable, stable floor. Properly installed and maintained, solid hardwood resists humidity swings and keeps its look for years.
“Solid hardwood is an investment that lasts decades in a Quebec home, as long as you manage the winter humidity,” says Sefi Dollinger, Owner of Planchers Bellefeuille, serving Quebec homeowners since 1983.
Solid Origins flooring is nailed down over a well-prepared wood subfloor. Solid hardwood is not recommended over a concrete slab (choose engineered instead) or with radiant heat. Always leave an expansion gap around the perimeter.
Target indoor humidity: 35-55%. Below 30%, wood cracks and gaps during winter. Above 60%, there is a risk of cupping. We recommend a central or portable humidifier through the heating season.
